What a stupid title!

Why the hell would they use the character's name on the title, are we supposed to know who that is? Its not like they already have a TV series going on or something and its just in one bland movie and they include his name like its significant or something.

Jesus what a dumb thing to post,so youre saying there's something wrong with it?Same surely goes for van wilder, cheech and chong, harold and kumar, indiana jones, wallace and grommit, deuce bigelow and ace ventura? To name a few!
Thats the title, you're not supposed to know who he is and he sure isnt going to become some hero but its a film about a security guard who thinks he's as good as a cop,who happens to be called Paul Blart!

It's supposed to be a silly name paired off with a silly profession as a parody and satire, contrasted with older movies indicating a serious drama with a "cool name" paired off with a "cool profession" i.e. "Outlaw Prophet: Warren Jeffs".

It's supposed to be silly, telling us that he's just a Mall Cop who will do awesome things unlikely for a security guard at a mall - satire, parody of action films, particularly "Die Hard".

There was a movie called 'Mall Cop' in 2005 so I suppose that they needed his name added to distinguish it from the earlier title. There have been too many films made with exactly the same name.

That must be it, in germany the film is not called Blart, but "Der Kaufhaus Cop", which basically means Mall Cop, or Department Store Cop.
