Nothing about the dog??

I too thought the Halbrook character was a bit of a villain and I had much sympathy for the uneducated tenant who wanted to make a fresh start for his family. That is until he killed the dog. That was sadistic cruelty.

I thought the film (not movie) was lovely. It reminded me of films in which life is not always fair…..and what is, is just is. Certainly, is an intelligent and poignant film…unlike most of the junk that comes out of Hollywood? (I haven’t been to a movie in years).

My sympathy for the Choat character ran low well before the dog incident. Maybe at the point where the abusive lout beat his daughter and the kid she was out with with a garden hose.
