Slightly disappointed....

This is a riveting documentary about, for me, the most interesting Beatle. I really knew very little about George's solo work, other than my sweet lord, but this film interested me enough to seek it out and I have been listening to all things must pass non stop. My only gripe is that it would have been nice to have heard some contemporary musicians talk about his influence. Lots of very cool young musicians have cited George as an influence (e.g. Jim James from my morning jacket has done an ep of cover versions) and i would have liked the film to show how his music has become quite influential.

I'm not particularly interested about what contemporary musicians think of George – this is about him, not them, after all – but I would have preferred a bit more about his music and a bit less about everything else. There's an excellent documentary here buried under all the footage about his views on death. 7/10 stars from me.
