What is it that makes good actors act in a bad movie?

I suppose just about everyone has done it at one time or another in their careers. Morgan Freeman is as good as they get. Banderas is no slouch. But the dialog and the directing in this movie suck.
And Radha Mitchell is the female version of Kevin Costner. Her voice is as monotone as her acting style
