Whos Picking up the DVDs on the 15th

I was wondering if anyone was planning on actually buying the complete first season on DVD when it hits this Tuesday the 15th. I have only seen one episode Community and it was OK at best. Hope the other episodes are better. I like most things that have to do with horror and have seen some of the MAsters of Horror episodes and enjoyed it so hope this is a good blind buy and the DVD case looks interesting.

i'll get it but i heard the dvds inside the case are 2 sided flipper discs and packaged horrible

I just picked up the set at the local Walmart for $19.96. I think the packaging looks great! Yes, there are 4 flipper discs in the set, in the gatefold cover there are 2 on each side, both are on top of each other and there is a small piece of circular foam to keep the disks in place. Not the best way to store 4 disks but not too bad..Can't wait to watch this series! Is there a season 2 coming?

reply

No season 2, it was canceled. I picke dup the season on DVD and thought the package art was very clever, but the stacking of DVD's on top of each other was a TERRIBLE idea. That's tacky and careless.

And the damn thing doesnt have an episode guide, so you have to remeber what disks (and on what side) the episodes are on...

The episode guide is on the back of the package, behind the cardboard sleeve. I picked this up tonight and I like the case, very clever. Not a big fan of stacking the discs, too easy for them to get scratched. The picture and sound are top notch though, I was very impressed by the presentation.. All and all, I would give it a 6/10

Oh, I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration?

I have the DVDs and I enjoyed the show. Sad it was taken off the air since it had enough gore to keep me happy. :)

I bought the set, too. While dual-sided discs are sketchy format, I was happy that it was released on DVD given the fact that NBC canceled the series without airing all 13 episodes.

Another plus is that many of the episodes are "Director's cut" versions that include footage unable to make it past the censors.

Small sidebar - The Episode NEW YEAR'S DAY features Cory Monteith, one of the leads from this season's breakout hit series, GLEE.

One more note - the play order of the episodes on the discs do not match the order in which they aired on NBC. I have no clue why.

The only thing worse than a bad movie, is someone who states their Opinion as Fact.

I was actually coming on here about the play order myself.... Anyone know why the DVDs are in the order they are in?

Looking at the order listed on IMDb, it's like they just threw them on the discs in completely random order.

Good thing they are all stand-alone at least....

That's what I was wondering. I actually watched a lot of them in the wrong order without realizing it. I guess it doesn't matter because they are episodic but it doesn't seem like it would be hard thing to do.

I got it today and I like it. It is different and new. Thanks

To answer your question, apparently studio flacks are "picking up the DVDs" and posting about it.
