Why Do The Main Characters Always Get Screwed At The End??????????

I don't know if it's been brought up, but why at the end of each episode does the main character always get *beep* over. They either die, don't get their way or even worse. I man WTF can one main character get a *beep* break, COME ON! Thats the only reason I dislike the show. I don't always prefer happy endings, but atleast one would be nice and ease the tension.

Who Agrees?

This isn't the Disney Channel, and i like how people get screwed in the end.

reply

Well, that is just them trying to have a "twist" ending on every episode. I'm of the mind that some episodes should have a twist, and some shouldn't. But you're right-- most of them end with some "A-HA" moment that doesn't necessarily always equal a clever twist.

One percent? They can kiss one percent of my ass!

I think the endings to every episode sucked

reply

Because its horror stories. I dont like horror stories who ends with lets say : "And he killed the monster. The end.." I love the ending to "Eater".

THe zombie episode ending rocked my world, the rest were not that good except in the first episode, it was still ok

Somebody should really tell them that it's only a twist if they don't end every episode that way.

EXACTLY!!! It only works when they deserve it. Christ, have they never seen an ep of TFTC?

I'm going to shove coal so far up your stocking you'll be coughing up diamonds!

In the past, almost all horror anthologies were "morality tales" - Tales from the Crypt, Twilight Zone, Friday the 13th tv series, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, etc - where bad things happened to bad people and good things happened to good people.

This series is the first in a very long time to break from the very stale mold of morality tales. It is true horror where bad things happen to good people, where you can do everything right and still end up suffering greatly. If you think about it, that is really the essence of true horror - hopelessness and inevitability.

reply

So when are they going to make a tale, where good things happen to bad people?

IMO the best twist was in Family Man. YOu knew what was going to happen, but you were still shocked.

They don't need to. That's reality.

That's very well said. That's life, bad things happen to good people all the time.

I liked the woman serial killer one. I've seen hundreds of horror movies, but I didn't see that coming. I do seem to recall one or two stories like that though. I thought the woman was crazy all throughout, but not because she's a serial killer but how she acted about a mere note that someone who doesn't even know gave her.

Eh, at least the veterinarian ended well. He was a very likable character.

Um, Nightmares and Dreamscapes and The Twilight Zone weren't in the least the boxed up tidy type of thing you're describing, Dali. And no, that's not the true essence of horror; it's nihilism and it sucks when used too much in any genre, including horror.

reply

The dark and downbeat conclusions featured in almost every last episode are one of the things I dig about this show; it's nice to see a horror series that stays grimly true to its bleak convictions to the literal bitter end.

Something with Bite had a happy ending! :P

Skin and Bones also ends with evil defeated, not really a happy ending i would say, but at least no screwjob.

Depending on your view of things, New Years Day ends happy as well (^_^)

reply

That's right OP, you're actually incorrect about all the eps ending badly. Evil being defeated is my greatest concern and Spirit Box also had a good ending; the MC was fine and there was justice to boot.
