So what?

Why is it that whenever people in this society find out about a government program, they go *beep* about it?

Do you know why corn is subsidized? Because it's a staple crop of the nation. It's also cheap filler, a cheap alternative to sugar (which we can't easily grow), and so on.

All this hysteria about GM foods and corn subsidies and corn being in everything - it's like that because THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ARABLE LAND IN THE WORLD TO FEED EVERYONE WITHOUT MAKING SOME SUCH ADJUSTMENTS. None of these products have EVER been proven to harm anyone. It's just conspiracy whackjobs who think anything done by this country is 'evil' who try and make you think there's something beneath it other than keeping the country running, and keeping people fed, as efficiently as possible.

And it's EASY to avoid corn in your diet. Buy Jones soda or one of the many others who use cane sugar. Eat less fast food.

Hippies.

I don't get your anger. So some guys got together and looked at what corn is in America. I didn't see any lies. If you like eating the stuff they saw corn going to, keep eating it. If not, stop. Boo hoo someone took the time to look into what we eat. Deal with it.

People have criticized the science of this movie, like the hair tests. They don't really prove how much of one's diet is corn, because other foods will show up the same on the tests. They aren't conclusive. Some people addressed this in comments for this movie. Another stupid thing is saying that grain-fed meat is the same as eating corn. That's like saying vodka is the same as wheat, cheese is the same as milk, wine is the same as grape juice, etc.

You obviously didn't watch the film. They made it very clear that corn is NOT something that is easy to avoid. You can't avoid corn by not eating fast food or buying fancy soda. Corn meal and corn syrup are in just about everything on grocery shelves. It's the "hippies" who are growing their own food, promoting grass-fed meat and whining about organics. Furthermore, the corn being over-produced in the US is NOT EDIBLE. You can't just go into any of these corn fields, grab a couple ears and eat it at a barbeque. It's not sweet corn. It has to be heavily processed before going into the food system. We can't just ship it as-is to other countries as a staple food and make them eat it.

The people you idolize wouldn't like you.
