WTF!? Was there a director change or did they lose footage?

from the story. I am just dumbstruck by what I just experienced. The first hour of the film is fine and then from the point of the shootout on, this film becomes an inexplicable, incoherent, illogical mess. There is a noticeable shift after the first hour as if the director was replaced or filmed footage had been lost or damaged and the last half hour was hastily patchworked together.
