Incredibly stupid movie

Lots of sex and nudity, but this film is dumb as fúck. Too much melodramatic cliches, ridiculous story and the heroine has intelligence of the five years old child.
Seriously, I will stay away from any girl that will claim that she has learned something about life from this embarrassment. Well, unless she has huge knockers. lol.

What a stupid comment. The movie is done with female audience in mind, and an honest take on a female who's open-minded about her sexuality. She might not be very smart and not the strongest character, but at least she's real. Your problem is that you are a man with no ability to see a female point of view, and it shows.

reply

Well anyone that 'reviews' a film using the language and extremes that he used, isn't really worth talking to.

reply

It's not clear to me how expressing a fondness for large breasts is either 'extreme' or proof of an inability to empathise with women. Perhaps, sunrise 22 and Kil_Killion, you consider yourselves to be feminist in outlook. All I see is prudishness - as would many feminists.

Podwilliams - did you actually watch the movie? What is your whole post even supposed to mean?

FYI, I'm not a "feminist" and you coming aroud and *accusing* anyone of being a "feminist" or "prudish" on a completely unrelated thread for some weird "in-your-head" reasons is beyond me. Same as me turning around and telling you "you're a sexist". No, I'm not doing that. I don't know you and do not care to know what your gender-related views are. It's unrelated to the movie.

I don't care if OP likes big boobs (haven't even noticed that at first, only after you pointed out) or dead bodies or snakes in his bedroom. Who does? If you do, send him a PM. My comment was to OP's characterization of the movie and his non-sensical narrow-minded judgement of the main character there.

reply

Well, my reason is definitely 'in my head' - that's for sure.

She was everything but real. And if you think it is an honest take on female who is open minded about her sexuality you are probably a nun and live in the monastery. My original post was a bit humorous, but the intentions are there - this film is horrible and worthless as watching experience on all levels. Creating most worthless and stupid female character ever in movies has something to do with it.
And if you show me a mature woman that will consider Valere as a role model for open minded woman, I will slap her silly (this is also a joke... maybe). I can imagine that little girls that just start to discover boys and female sexuality can find something romantic and appealing in this garbage, like in an average Danielle Steel novel, but I assure you - no one, man or woman, with brains and common sense will consider this movie as anything but idiotic and pathetic.

How did you know about the snakes in my bedroom? And no one should be surprised by the fact that men like big boobs. What a shocker.

I am sorry, I can't understand a single word you are saying.

You do have problems understanding human speech, dimagic. Where did I mention the main character in this movie being a "role model" to anyone? Can you please re-read my reply to you, the one you quote? Your whole logic and criticism of those who like this movie is based on your idea of people watching a movie in to order to find a "role model" there. Grow up.
Your reaction also seems to be very personal to this movie. Did you perhaps have some unpleasant experience dealing with a woman similar to the one depicted in this movie? You surely behave as if this movie changed your life somehow, you cannot let it go. Go get a life and/or that "dream woman" of yours, and don't waste everyone's time with your useless replies.

reply

getting personal? deep breath, relax, no need to take it so seriously. feeling better now?

I was bored so I checked some of my old posts on imdb, I already forgot that I ever watched this piece of crap and I was surprised to find some replies.
As someone who claims that I don't understand human speech, you sure missed my point by yourself. On the second thought, this what I would expect from someone who liked such dumb movie and find it normal to defend it on the internet by insulting others. Well, everyone has its own thing, I guess. Best of luck to you.

reply

well, best of luck to you too, maybe you will mature up someday.

reply

Oh, I am mature, but I don't need to prove that to you. And just last thought - you don't need to be a feminist to get offended by the depiction of the "liberated" woman in this film.
Whatever sexual fantasies the creators of this film were trying to fulfill for the female audience, whatever hormonal unbalance women that enjoyed it were having, it is not an excuse to make such crappy movie. It doesn't matter what I understand or don't about female point of view. There can be no excuse to justify such insult to intelligence.
And before I express more despise towards people that liked it, let me recommend you another similar and also horrible movie, on both formalistic and thematic levels, that you will probably like. It's called Roger Dodger (2002) and it is one of the worst films I ever witnessed. I gave it 1 because I couldn't find a single positive thing that I could say about anything in it, so feel free to love it and give it a 10. At least Diary had some nice sex scenes.
Cheers.

You obviously need to stick with watching "Girls Gone Wild", or perhaps the Porky's trilogy.. Because I don't think you are capable of understanding what this movie is really about. It's about addiction, some people use drugs, some use sex. It's like all addictions, and it has a very negative impact on her life and the people in it..

reply

You missed the idea of this film. It wasn't to titillate, it was to understand a woman who loved sex and how she tried to remedy her circumstance and learn about herself and her place in the world.

The problem I had with the film is that it seemed like it so wanted to be like the better International films from the 60's, 70's and 80's that tackled this subject much better. The women in those films (i.e. Sônia Braga, Catherine Deneuve, etc.) were outstanding, this woman didn't make me want to care and the script was too cliche.

The show wasn't as funny as it was 5 years ago. Well, neither are you.

those women would have jumped all over the teenaged peeping tom ;)

she didnt try to remedy anything, she took advantage of her desires and it failed....

whats up with her making up with her girlfriend at the end.....didnt she give the gal a dildo previously?

reply

The movie was not stupid. Not the best movie I have seen, but not the worst either. I can see it went right over the heads of most people. Most of them looking for just nudity and sex, I'm sure.

reply

here here....

Movie went nowhere, sunk back in cliches and ended with eulogy on masturbation ;)

reply

I just want to point out that this is based on a book of a woman which shares the main character's name and was an allageed auto-biography. how much of the book is the actual truth and how much is made up? I don't know, but if we assume that the book is all true then saying the situations were cliched does't really apply, i mean real life is often one huge cliche but i'm just saying. Of course i don't necessarily believe all of it is true. it sounds like the kind of book someone would write to be shocking and generate piblicity and make some money.

I didn't think the movie was very good but not because it offended me or anything like that, it just didn't have much to say (way too many pointless sex scnes, we get that she loves it) and most of the dramatic moments fell flat.

I agree that the woman was an idiot, and I enjoyed seeing her get abused after a while.
