Something that annoyed me about the end

SPOLIERS!

I did not like how they changed the ending for this version but it is a remake so I knew that some changes would be made. The original was great and this was not bad but at the end I did not like how Denzel's characters started making jokes at the end with the mayor. Innocent people had been killed that day and he had just shot dead the villain, which was his first kill and before you know it, he is joking around.

This is sounding like a rant from someone who preferred the original I know but it did bother me. I'm not expecting to see his character starting to vomit over what he did but it felt unnecessary. Did anyone else agree?

I felt that in one sense, he felt proud of himself and seemed truly astonished when the Mayor said that the city was going to do something special for him. Then, very humbled. I mean if YOU had just received special thanks from an elected official, directed to YOU and ONLY you, wouldn't you perhaps feel just a little special? ... and maybe even a bit giddy? (I think I would) ... although I'm sure I'd probably still be shaking as well!! --- like when he was holding the gun on Ryder.

That's my take.
