Better than Original

I never cared for the original so I hesitated watching the re-make but this was so much more exciting; up-to-date but with lots of errors. The plot was a bit corny as the dispatcher was under indictment for bribery but it was exciting. Many errors (goofs) have already been pointed-out including the #6 Train has no track access to Coney Island, the wrong Grand Central Station was depicted, Shea Stadium was shown enroute to Brooklyn, the chopper route went in the wrong direction many times and strangely the version I saw never showed the Twin Towers in aerial sequences. Was it deleted after 9-11? How did the guy get an internet signal in an underground tunnel? The stock market drop due to the hijacking doesn't make sense and it was the whole premise of the operation. Had Travolta invested the $10 million in a low market, he would have easily been tracked-down. The conclusion was corny, only Denzel was there to confront Travolta on the bridge, the other cops were far away and thought that Denzel was the perpertrator. Enjoyable anyway and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I disagree. I found this remake to be a big action flick with high tech gadgets and a poorly developed story. The 1974 version was a tense thriller. In the closing sequence, Walter Matthau uses great detective work to find the escaped member of the hijackers in a most appealing manner.

Better than the original, no. But better than alot of other remake-reboot films I've seen.

Bah. They smartened it up with high tech wizardry but it lacked the humor of the original and had no suspense whatsoever. Piss-poor remake!

I agree I liked both but this one was better more entertaining bad guy in Travolta
