How did Rachel *spoiler*

How did Rachel die in the shower? I don't understand that part, did the water just get to hot? How does that kill you instantaneously?

nothing going, going, wild in you, you know
i don't do sadness. not even a little bit

reply

Seems the water got too hot and that combined with the shock, fear and panic she died.

reply

It wasn't instantaneously. She was banging on the shower door and screaming for a good bit before the incredibly scalding hot water took her out.

reply

Horrible death.

reply

Are we certain it wasn't liquid cyanide? Invisible venomous snakes? Toxic shock syndrome? Her skin never reddened in the least whilst she was boiling to death :)

reply

That's exactly what I was thinking when watching that scene. I was thinking, "how is her skin not turning red?" I know my skin turns red when I make my shower water too hot.

'Toxic Shock'...???

I have over 4000 films, many of them very rare and OOP. I LOVE to trade. PLEASE ASK!

reply

I agree that it couldn't have been scalding hot water, her skin wasn't red.

I think she was probably choked by some unseen force.

"Oh Thank you God! Thank you so BLOODY much!" Basil Fawlty

reply

I think it might have been both the very hot water burning her and the thick steam choking her. That, in my opinion, is the scariest part of the whole movie. The combination of her horrific screams, and then her face pressed against the glass with her eyes open when they find her. Reminds me of the closet scene in "The Ring."

reply

The scalding water combined with the insane amount of smoke that would create, she probably suffocated. Plus she was probably shocked from the temperature and had heart failure.
