Well, that was insightful and well argued. You've convinced me. Not.

I agree with you. It was a disaster of a film on all levels... Very disappointing

reply

Well, does anybody want to tell us why?

What were you expecting from an adaption of a children's book about an anthropomorphised bear? Searing social realism? Tense political intrigue? Steamy sex scenes? Explosions and car chases? - oh, we have one of those, more or less.

I found it witty and endearing, and very nicely designed. What was so disappointing to you?

reply

I thought it was bad because the movie was very cliche it followed every cliché path I could have thought, the acting was absolute awful and a bit cringy to watch at times especially with the family whom he lives with (I thought Nichole Kid man's was okkay but that's a stretch). I couldn't stand Paddingtons character because he was so reckless throughout the film basically being so stupid but blaming it that 'he didn't know because he's a bear' but he's intelligent enough to speak and understand human language?

I really liked it! Funny and endearing.

I didn't care too much for Nicole Kidman, but I didn't like her in The Golden Compass either. She's just not a villain in my eyes.

For Pete's sake people, it's a children's fantasy story. Maybe people who think all movies have to be some sort of grand statement social on the social order should see this type movies.
This was just fun entertainment! We watched it with my grandkids and just laughed at all the great, clever actions.
