Why can't movies just have one name? Or is that too easy?

i always thought movies that didn't do well had tons of alternative titles and covers, like for example brought up in the "ed wood" (1994) movie, its strange though when a movie with an english title gets another english title in countries that don't speak english... anyway, this looked more like an episode of a day time soap opera, adding to that they go after the dog... i was very surprised it was made in 2008, even the cover here looks like a b movie from the 1980's, in the promotion names are blasting out that i've never heard of before.
