*SPOILER* I Didn't Understand the Ending

We just watched 'Noelle" and I didn't understand the ending. In looking at the newborn baby, he/she looks partly African/American. Or was it just premature? Who was the father? At the very end, we see a beautiful blonde blue-eyed little girl with curls who looks like David. So was she THEIR child together?

Please help.

The blonde little girl is the woman's child conceived with her unfaithful boyfriend seen at the party making out with another woman. About three years or so have passed since the Father left the priesthood and married the woman.

I see the ending as very redemptive. The priest has been forgiven for his sin in urging his girlfriend from many years past to abort her child. Because he went into the priesthood to try to resolve that guilt, in his case being forgiven also meant that he left the priesthood and married this woman whose child was not his own. Together with the child they have become a family and continue as active members of this parish that he almost put to death, too.

This was truly an amazing movie.

Thank you! I was seeing an ending that didn't exist. Yes, it was a very good movie!

I found this a very warm movie. I showed it to a movie group in my apartment complex, mainly seniors, and it was well received.

There was no partly AA baby. Because very premature babies have translucent skin and almost no body fat, they can appear to have dark or even red skin from the color of their blood and blood vessels just beneath the surface. Regarding the hair, it is not unusual for kids to change greatly in appearance from birth to, say, three years old. This is especially true for premies who sometimes look more like unfinished little hatchlings than babies.
