So … what was he?

FBI?
Mafia?
Robbery
Heist crew head?
Ex-military SOF?

Who (what) was Andy Garcia’s character — FBI or Mob boss?

reply

He seemed like a crime boss who was working with someone at the FBI in dark ops. Like he could go after the bad guys with less evidence than they needed, and do worse things to them, in exchange for them not charging him. 2 of the agents who interviewed him after the first shooting said they had been after him for 10 years, but the senior agent told them to let him go, that he was just a guard for now.

Sounds right on. That makes the movie more interesting: bad guy gets revenge on badder guy. Even brutal criminals have lines that are not to be crossed.

But what’s the rule here — don’t kill innocent family? He was innocent in that he wasn’t privy to or part of the operation. But he had seen the bad guy’s face. In that world, you “have to” kill innocents that can identify you. But as a professional, the killer was supposed to keep his mask on. But he didn’t, because he was a douche. Is that why his killing was justified?

Since H lived in that world, he had a responsibility to warn his son about the rules, including “if attacked by a gang with guns, keep your head down and don’t look up.” But he didn’t warn him because he didn’t want his son to know that his father was a criminal who killed people. And since he wanted that, he should have tried harder not to let him get NEAR any of his criminal plots as he would know how that could go. “Stay in the car and don’t open the door for anyone?” Without telling him how it could get him killed, and why? Pretty lame for a “pro.”

By the way … his name was Dougie.
