Statham playing...

The same exact character that he plays in every single one of his films.

reply

I guess he's playing himself ...

reply

So what? You want to see him in pink tights?

reply

Return to the glory of the 80s action movies.

reply

Like many action stars and movie stars in general before him did. Been waiting for him to do Shakespeare myself, but if it ain’t broke… ;P

reply

I would pay a lot of money to see Statham do Shakespeare!

reply

Hey, if Willis can do Hudson Hawk then Statham can do Shakespear. Dont tell Willis that, he hates that people see that movie.

reply

Some people can get away with that type of thing: Christopher Walken and Charles Bronson for example. They are always the same in every movie, but it doesn't bother me. Same with Jason. At least he got to be funny a couple of times in the 8th Fast & Furious movie with that baby.

reply

Indeed. Statham does what Statham does, and he does it very well. And he can be funny.

reply

I like him, not sure why but I do, think it's cos he carries that stoic world weary yet deadly look so well.

reply

that stoic world weary yet deadly look

Good description.

reply

Walken? Contrast Nick from The Deer Hunter with Max Zorin from A View To A Kill. Way different characters.

reply

If its not broke....

reply

You know what you're getting with a Jason Statham movie. Put your brain in neutral and enjoy the mayhem. IMHO, he is one of the best in the business at doing that.

reply

The strong silent hero who punishes evil is an important cultural icon, if you’re an actor who can play it convincingly (as Statham can, he’s one of the few remaining male movie stars with some actual testosterone) then it’s a smart move.
