Is it considered 'cross dressing' for males to play as woman characters?

In games, that is?

I just wanted to hear what everyone's thoughts are, because my best friend thinks it is kinda 'cross dressing' for guys to play as woman characters in games, while others think there's nothing wrong with it at all. I, myself, have played as Kasumi a lot in the only couple DOA games that I've played.

Plus, I, myself, am thinking about getting this game because I've always been a big fan of the MK series, and I'm contemplating playing as Wonder Woman should I decide to get this game because she's HOT (which is the only reason most guys are even interested in the WW comics/graphic novels, anyway, really).

Hell no. Playing as a different gender in a game could hardly be called cross dressing. It could only be cross dressing if the user (say a fat 30 year-old male) decides to ACTUALLY dress up like Kitana in real life.

Oh God, I regret saying that, because now I have a really disturbing image in my head. :(

I know, I'm just saying that some guys DO find it to be cross-dressing, or weird in some way for guys to play as woman characters in games. I remember being looked at really weird by a handful of my friends when playing as Wonder Woman in Justice League: Task Force for the SNES many years ago, for example.

When I first played Street Fighter II, I was always Chun Li. My friends used to laugh at me for playing as the female characters in fighting games, but I found that their movesets were the easiest to learn.

In fighting games, my best characters are always female

Being I play Wonder Woman the most in the game I'm going with no. I acutally go with females in every game I play that gives you the option.

what kind of question is that? first of all, a lot of games center themselves around bouncy b00bed hot girl fighers. second, like 90% of gamers are guys. so if only girls played with girl fighters, you'd almost never see a girl in an online fight. third, i've been playing this game for about a week, & i've had my a$$ handed to me a few times by wonder woman, kitana, and catwoman. & with the mic feature, you can know full well that a dude is kicking you around. lol. so in answer to your question, NO, a guy using a girl fighter is not cross dressing. it just depends on who's kicking your butt at the time. :)

Nothing wrong with being a girl, they can kick ass to, I like to be Kitana in MK (My main is Raiden) Ling Xiaoyu in Tekken (Main is Lee) and Samus in Smash Bross (Main is Wario) They're only pixel/drawing/wire frame/ploygon boobies, be sides most girl gamers play as the female characters as offten a guy would play with them.

absolutely not! , cause unless your 'friends' are teenagers i dont think most people would make fun of you for picking girl characters and even though i generally played as guys in the old days of MK (with exception of MK2 with Kitana) i think in the newer MK games (i.e. Deception/Armageddon) i generally used girls... Jade is really powerful on MK:D and in Armageddon i think Kitana is all around pretty good.

as for MK vs DC i just got a hold of the game so right now i aint really played the game enough to see who i like using yet.... cause i just beat the story mode (with MK side) a few minutes ago or so.

p.s. the 2D MK games are still better than any fighting games out there, primarily speaking MK3/UMK3 cause of the Combo system and the games are quite balanced to.... i used to play MK3/UMK3 (and some of MK2) back in the Arcades in the mid 1990's before arcades where dead ;) ... now i have arcade perfect versions of MK1/MK2/MK3/UMK3 on my PC using the MAME emulator (it's a arcade machine emulator)

It's all dependent on the hotness scale. I would say Wonder Woman would be okay.

I'm as straight and normal as they come, but I will ALWAYS prefer to play a female character over a male character...why would you wanna stare at a sweaty muscly guy for hours when you could stare at some CG goddess for that long?
i'd rather play tomb raider than uncharted
rather play bayonetta than dmc
rather play as kasumi than bass

does that make me weird?

I prefer to play as a man cause its weird to play as a woman, but I do see that the woman characters have good moves. My cousin kept playing woman characters and I did question him about it at first but I guess he just liked the moves. And I was bored when I was playing against him so I did play as a woman a few times just to be funny and kick his butt at his own moves.
