IT'S ABOUT TIME THAT ARGENTO RETIRED!

When I was a little child, Argento directed his masterpieces, "The Bird with Crystal Plumage", and all his other works of the '70s, up to his masterpiece of masterpieces, "Profondo Rosso"... Then it was all over, his creativity went down the drain, and his movies got worse and worse; his latest film which contained a little spark, just a tiny glimpse of Old Dario Argento's style was "Non ho Sonno". I regret afterwards I saw the horrible mess "Il Cartaio", and then "The Third Mother", and both made me puke... Anyway I'd never thought that Argento may direct anything as poor as "Giallo!", definitely his worst film ever, without the shadow of an original idea, a cast of miscast people, and a disappointing ending... Everything is wrong in this movie, from the very beginning to the end, Seigner looks like the grandmother of her supposed 'sister', Brody is slow, painfully dull, boring and pitiful, the plot has plenty of holes, and actually the story doesn't exist at all. It hurt me seeing such a revolting mess. Dario, what about retiring? Please, leave all of us at least the memory of your good movies!

Nah, he shouldn't retire, but he should definitely spend more time thinking his movies through. In order to make anything substantial today, you can't just leave it to luck. Good film-making, in any area, takes time and patience.

You're right.

While I do agree that he has been running dry on ides for a while, Gallo was not his worst movie to date. I would put that award to Phantom of the Opera. Also, I don't know if you have heard of the series "Masters of Horror", but he directed a good episode of it called "Jenifer".

Raccoon City is not dead...

It's just playing Possum.

Thinking what through? Sadly he no longer is the stylish director we remember, hes a generic director for hire. I though Fulci went off the deep end at the end of his career, but I think Argento wants to show he can make even poorer films. It seems now days I'd be happy if Argento would just make another Sodoma's Ghost (and arguably Argento is the better of the two directors....or was the better of the two).
