What REALLY doesn't make sense...

Other than Charlie David being WAY too old to play a young college student and way too gay to play straight acting...
WHY would the wife leave her husband ALL ALONE with the good looking gay guest if she already admitted she's always suspected her husband was gay?
Gee honey, I just found out Chase is gay, why don't I leave you ALL ALONE together for the weekend and push you into acting on those homosexual feelings you've been repressing for the last 20 years?
There's even a scene before she leaves for the weekend with Nathan where she urges him to spend quality time with him. And then she acts horrified when she catches them kissing.
THAT didn't make sense.

My guess is, when Stacey suggested to Nathan that he should spend some time with Chase, she probably only intended to give him the opportunity to search his own feelings so that he could open up to her. She may not have anticipated that he would act on it. I think that she was more horrified not by the fact that he came out, but that he did act on it, and that he used Chase to experiment his feelings. For one, due to that he was Tyler's best friend, two, that he was so young, and three, that he did all this in the home and bed they shared. Also, I think that no matter how sure she was that Nathan was gay, the actual visual of it was probably much harder for her to see than she had imagined.

She didnt find out Chase was gay until after they left unless I missed a scene...We never actually see Tyler tell Stacey that Chase is gay......

They go to grandmas..... Chase and the dad stay behind have some play time.... Next thing you know we see Stacey grab her daughter and say we're leaving and she ask why are we leaving grandma's early. I think Tyler told his mother and she suspecting that Nathan was gay rushed home to stop anything from happening... She was too late though... (this is of course unless I missed a scene)

She tells him afterwards to "spend" some quality time with him imo to see how he would interact with him and confirm her suspicions....

Well technically you're right. We never see Tyler tell Stacy that Chase is gay. But we do hear Chase ask Tyler if he told Stacy. Tyler said yes he told her.

Yes, and Stacey also suspected that Nathan was gay. However, given the fact that they were married for 25 years and produced 2 children, she made the mistake many women in this situation make - she thought his repressed homosexuality would remain repressed. I don't think she thought at this stage in his life he would decide to come out.

It islaughable how much ofthisfilm has been subjected to critical analysis. It is simply poorly, incomprehensibly written and motivated. Some scenes are bafflingly short and cut just when it seems sort of denouement is at hand. And Tyler is quite risible.
