Horrible film! (spoilers)

I couldn't finish this film. That's how bad it was. Charlie David is not convincing at all as a "straight" acting college student. He looks about 30, and putting a ballcap on doesn't change that fact. And his bestfriend Tyler has no clue Chase is gay? Yeah--right. In a nutshell, the casting did nothing to help an already poorly written film.

It wasn't THAT bad. I guess most of us were expecting something in the league of 'Shelter'. This came up short but was still rather enjoyable.

I agree, Charlie David was a miscast. You should've finished it. Dan Payne (Nathan) and Thea Gill (Stacey), imo, were the real stars of the film. And they were brilliant.

I understand why gay actors are writing their own screenplays. As an openly gay actor, it's hard to get casted in mainstream films--even films with gay characters. I'm not sure why Hwood feels the need to cast straight actors in gay roles. But ultimately, I'm tired of actors (gay or straight) writing, producing, and starring in their own films. Spike Lee taught us back in the 80s that that's a recipe for disaster. I'm sure Charlie David is a great actor, and I like Thea Gill. But this wasn't the right movie for either of them.

I'll admit that Charlie David didn't really look the part of a college student, he looked closer to Nathan's age. However, when you suspend that disbelief, it's easy to see how things could have happened. Tyler wasn't the brightest, but you could tell that he didn't always notice everyone, so even though the viewer could tell that Chase was gay, it's understandable that Tyler wouldn't think so. I think the acting was good... it was just a little difficult to see Thea Gill in her role, but that's due to seeing her as the lovable lesbian on Queer as Folk.

The reason the "kids" look so old and the dad looks so young is because this film is nothing but a sex fantasy disguised as a socially relevant film. If the father looked like an old troll, the fantasy would be shot.

Really lousy movie that perpetuates the lie that grown men can "suddenly" realize they are gay, which of course lets closet cases off the hook for lying half their lives.

Oh, and the idea that Charlie David could pass as either college age or straight turns this movie into a comedy.

I completely agree with you, xdayton

I was laughing at moments throughout that I don't think were meant for comical purposes. This film took itself WAY too seriously as something "socially relevent."

Interesting premise, but POORLY executed. The only thing I wanted to see was Nathan get it on with his son. BUt, that would have been a porno. Which this would have been basically better if it has been.

In real life, guys like Nathan are fat, balding, and probably don't have wives as "understanding" as Stacey.

This was lame, lame, lame.

I agree with everything you say about this awful movie. Pure fluff.

Dear lord this has got to be the worst film of 2008! And very possibly the whole decade. Worst writing, worst acting, worst directing. So horrible in fact one couldn't look at it and couldn't look away. If anyone lets Charlie David near a movie again as a writer they should be shot at dawn - with a rusty bullet. In fact everyone involved with this film should be put out of their misery. And if they're not miserable, they should be locked in a room and made to watch this crap until they are, then put out of their misery. How the heck does this stuff find a distributor and get released! It absolutely shakes my faith in an industry I love.

The film has good intentions but ultimately sucks because of how contrived it is. Did anyone notice that every time the two men kiss, someone walks in on them?? Soap opera at its most ludicrous.

Agreed. It was like watching a soap opera. Pity! Such a compelling subject could've easily made for a much stronger movie.

Also agree about some of the posts about the acting. Tyler was bad. Chase wasn't good either. Did you see that scene on the beach where he cries (or tries to) when Tyler walked away. Poor acting, from most, spare the husband and wife.

I totally agree. This movie makes me embarrassed to be gay.

When is the movie you produced being shown so we can all go give our reviews and give our opinion of it????
