LONDON, Oct 10, 2007 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Hollywood actor Bradley Whitford has signed on to star in "Burn Up," a British television series slated to air next year, the BBC said Wednesday.

Whitford is an Emmy Award-winning actor best-known for his good-guy roles on Aaron Sorkin's TV dramas, "The West Wing" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip."

Set to air on BBC Two, "Burn Up" will also feature "Spooks" actor Rupert Penry-Jones and "Party of Five" alum Neve Campbell.

The drama is expected to start shooting this month in Canada before moving to London next year.

Stephen Garrett of Kudos Film and Television described "Burn Up" as "a potent cocktail of fiction and fact that we hope will enlighten as much as it will entertain."

The show is about the clashes between a politician, an environmental activist and an oil industrialist as they prepare to attend a summit on climate change, the BBC said.

Yea!!!! I lobe Bradley Whitford. I love even more that he has great taste in material...even if the public can't be bothered to watch something of substance.

I just got off the plane with Bradley Whitford and Rupert Penry-Jones a couple of hours ago. We were flying from LA to Calgary - they both seemed really nice (I said hi to Penry-Jones, but embarrassingly didn't recognize Whitford).

I liked Bradley Whitford in the West Wing and felt sorry for him when Studio 60 didn't work out, so it's a shame that his next work was on this complete tripe.

I suppose this TV-movie is really designed to inform/remind the American viewiers of their government's refusal to sign the Kyoto agreement.

It is a shame therefore that the script provided for this worthy venture should be so hackneyed. badly filmed and obviously signposted.

Think it was just a very good explanation of why we are constantly not getting anywhere as far as coming to an agreement to curb emissions. Not exclusively aimed at the U.S., the oil companies operate worldwide. Think the love story was superfluous and not very well written, but the rest of the script was brilliant.
