If Kate Pierce and her sidekick ended up at the North Pole, they wouldn't be seeing mountains and boreal forests thickly covered in snow. They would be standing on a cold flat landscape on thick sea ice... not a tree or mountain anywhere.

I think the film makers intended it to be a light, entertaining fantasy; however, you're right--as a documentary about the physical geography of the North Pole it is a complete failure.

In decade or so, they might actually find themselves swimming in open ocean... :/
