Synopsis

From Cillian Murphy's site, in reference to the 2003 demo, it looks like:

Though IMDb lists this film as a 2003 release, this film, a low-budget affair that producer Ed Guiney deemed "a glorified read-though on video," never saw the light of day. The plot revolves around the title character, an escapee from prison, fooling a whole Irish village into thinking he's a visitor from outer space. Cillian Murphy plays villager Guy Hendrickson. John Carney is mounting a full-fledged, new production of Zonad in September 2007 (probably without Cillian).

Cast also includes Simon Delaney and Antony Conaty.

Once’ writer/director John Carney begins production today on his latest feature film ‘Zonad’. The low budget comedy reunites the director with his ‘Bachelors Walk’ star Simon Delaney and shoots for 24 days around Co. Wicklow.

Written by John Carney and Kieran Carney, ‘Zonad’ follows an escaped convict (Delaney) who hides out in a rural Irish village and fools the locals by pretending to be a visitor from outer space. Supporting cast features Irish actors David Pearse (Small Engine Repair), Rory Keenan (Pride and Joy), Janice Byrne, Geoff Minogue (Once) and Donna Dent (Ella Enchanted).

Director of photography for the shoot is Peter Robertson (Garage, Inside I’m Dancing) and he will shoot on High Def format. Production designer is Susie Cullen (whose art director credits include Intermission and Laws of Attraction), costumes are by Tiziana Corviseri (Bachelors Walk Christmas Special) and the film will be edited at Screen Scene by Paul Mullen (Once, Bachelors Walk Christmas Special).

Element Pictures’ new distribution arm run by Audrey Sheils, former Account Director for Empire Design and Marketing Director for Metrodome Films, will release the film in Ireland next year.

Produced by Element Pictures’ Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe and John McDonnell, ‘Zonad’ is financed by Element Pictures and the Irish Film Board.

Another interesting tidbit is that the actor now in the lead role of Benson was also in Batman Begins, David Murray as "Jumpy Thug" albeit a much smaller role than Mr. Cillian who of course played Dr. Crane/Scarecrow.

Is there any word as to when they expect to release this? Sorry, I am at work and my shift is about over so I don't have time to check through all the links you listed. I will check them later at home.
If I can remember to. Oldtimers/CRS syndrome.
LOL

Wanted to let you know that your efforts to drum up interest in this film are not being totally ignored.
