Elvira, Mistress of the Dark

The Good Witch totally reminded me of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Only that Elvira movie was with teenagers and sexual context and The Good Witch was made for a whole family.
Even the main characters name was Cassandra in honour of Cassandra Peterson, who played Elvira :))).
Maybe it's all a coinsidence, but the plot was very similar :).

But Elvira was so much funnier!:D

I couldn't believe how similar this was to Elvira... aside from the exact same plot, much of the dialogue and camera angles are the same... even the layout of the protagonist's house is the same. It seems to be changed just enough in order to avoid plagiarism/ avoid legal trouble. It reminds me of when a Disney or Pixar movie comes out in the theatre... two or three "poor man" versions of the same film usually pop up on DVD in retail stores simultaneously.

I can understand being inspired by something, but this was ridiculous. Also, as a member above pointed out, it's interesting that the main character's name is Cassandra. I don't really see it as a homage or in "honor" of Cassandra Peterson though... it's more like a watered down ripoff, to put it bluntly.

What the hell are you guys talking about?! Elvira is a character woman who used to host cheap movies on Halloween, MST2K style in the 90's. Cassandra doesn't have her breasts sticking out her clothes like Elvira, nor the ridiculous make up and wig. What am I missing here?!

Am I right or are you wrong!?

You're not missing anything. You're just too smart for the room.
