'Death by stupid' vs. freak accidents

So I get the whole Darwin Awards thing. And as disrespectful as those come off at times, most of those victims have nobody to blame but themselves. But in this show, about have of the called cases are really more freak accidents than anything.

Example: Sorority mud wrestling ring built over a sink hole. The girl who sinks is the mega bitch pledge master, and not the one who set up the ring. Basically the fact that she was a bitch makes it her fault, and ipso-facto, death by stupid.

Another was a female angler, who was of coursed dressed in the fashion of a b-movie bimbo. She catches a fish, yanks the rod, and watches with her jaw ajar as the fish comes flying out of the water; it goes straight into her mouth, lodges in her throat, and she chokes to death. Even if we were to give the fishy (heh, heh,) story the benefit of the doubt, how was that a "stupid death" so much as a freak accident.

There's more, but most of them involve guys being killed weight lifting, women using the wrong thing as a dildo, and who knows what else.

The "Darwin Awards" rarely are the fault of the person so much as the fault of external circumstances.

When a person is in a car crash, that person suffers from disorientation and a lack of general awareness. The guy may be bleeding into his brain and the comedy site acts as if he is at fault.

Here we have a trained mechanic who hadn't yet replaced the failed relay on his car. Now the relay is a very important safety element, but also realize how many work related accidents occur with mechanics. The article might as well be "Fool chooses to be a mechanic for a living, got killed on the job due to forgetting to pull level, hahaha!"

Here we have Americanisms mixed with Eastern Culture; but the implication is multi-fold.

1) There is a reason the kid is climbing over the fence with the most likely reason being that the weed is growing somewhere in the habitat.

2) Despite a clear pattern, no one did anything to stop the teenage boy until it was too late.

Realize that texting and driving, even hands free, has been proven to be dangerous. "Cognitive Distraction", results in a delay between a person focusing on one task then loading the "software" for another. Teens have the highest incidence of doing this and there are over 3000 deaths yearly due to that.

The 3000 deaths yearly vs a teenager with a drug problem (as if we never heard that before.)

Darwin Awards are simply comedy:

First, different culture.
Second, you start by "performing miracles."

"This drug does miracles against cancer and studies have shown that, in 60% of people who take it, their cancer is fully gone within a week."

Sure, you, without cancer, are going to say "Ha, false correlation" but when you start seeing people getting better and believing in the drug maybe it actually works.

Conartists are very good at what they do, they study human psychology so as to best manipulate them. In this case, the con-artist (if we're taking the western approach here) believed strongly in his own con while having convinced his followers he was fully capable of it.

The saying goes "Fool me once, shame on YOU, fool me twice shame on ME." People get tricked, and you probably could be tricked into killing yourself if I came up with a technological sounding way of bringing you back so you could live forever.
