David Lynch moment...

At first I thought the conversation between Rosow and the FBI agents occurred in a dream. I was surprised when he pulled the glowing sunglasses out of his pocket after he entered the trunk of the taxicab.
The FBI agents didn't complain, or try to stop him, when he entered their car. That doesn't seem normal. Then they offered him a pair of sunglasses for children which they picked up during their "excursion" to 7-11. And overall the conversation between them seems elliptic and weird.

more pointless than weird to me.

I think it's definitely indicative of a dream but the biggest mystery there is the Stravinsky reference and his music. As though telling him to stop running away from everything and be rebellious?

I had the EXACT same thought. I'm a big lynch fan(mulholland drive is one of my favorite movies). I thought the scene was very surreal and would not look at all out of place in a lynch film. This film, though flawed, was good IMO. Well cast, and stylishly directed.
