Ben's Morality
At first I thought Ben had some major issues to deal with and was looking inward, so he intentionaly detached himself from friends (I assume, since we never see any of his friends), family, lover and virtually anyone he comes into contact with.
When he met the rancher lady who's dog was killed and didn't sleep with her despite all the hints she was dropping despite her lame disclaimer about him not being her type.
Then, he has sex with a woman under the most ludicrous conditions, so it dispelled any of his supposed inner angst. The movie lost me there, but I hung in.
I totally lost interest when his fiance forgave him like she would forgive him for leaving the toilet seat up. He abandons her, doesn't communicate, cheats on her and she's like, "Oh, you slept with someone else; that's cool. At least you're didn't lie to me."
Real people don't behave this way. Just like real people don't throw away a cell phone when their vehicle breaks down in the middle of nowhere because they can't get a signal.
