Why does an American narrate this film?

I just finished watching this and was wondering why an all Canadian film is narrated by a friggin American, namely Campbell Scott? Couldn't they find a Canuck? Anybody else think this was stoopid? Nat a bad film btw, made me kind of proud to be Canadian, nevermind what some of the losers in the other threads say, watch this and decide for yourself.

Campbell Scott was the star of the directors previous feature (Saint Ralph), their probably friends. Either way, I don't see what difference it makes that he's American. Canadians participate in American films.

I don't see what the fuss is all aboot either.

what difference does it make? (that an american narrated it)

His mother was Colleen Dewhurst (a Canadian), who did play Marissa in "Anne of Green Gables", so those two facts automatically earn him honorary Canuck status. We're not an overly picky nation like some.

reply

Cool that his mother is Collleen Dewhurt, but she played Marilla in Anne of Green Gables. There was no Marissa character in that production.

Why is a Canadian the commercial voice of Bank of America?

It all evens out in the end.

We've been invaded by America. We're all gonna be rich.

I think Campbell provided a dry narration, which I loved!

A better question would be is "why is there a narrator?".

It is both annoying and distracting.

I have an interesting response for this and thats perhaps Scott who has acted in Still Mine as well from the same director had previosly played the role of a man dying fro cancer. The film was called Dying Young and it also starred Julia Roberts. I thought it was a nice touch.
