What exactly did Salvador see? Spoiler!

I wrote this in another thread but here it is.

I'm wanting to know what it was that Salvador saw or heard in head during the "love" scene on the roof of a building. It happens twice in the movie, I think. And Federico asks Salvador about it and how Salvador can tell him anything but Salvador doesn't say what it is that he is bothered by or what he "sees". I thought it was interesting and could probably reveal a lot.

I thought maybe he had visions of the virgin mary or something like that, maybe telling him what he was doing was "wrong", I mean what he felt to be wrong, feeling conflicted about it.

What do you people think?

I was puzzled by this. Was the implication that Salvador was schizoid - hearing voices etc.? It seemed that "the voices" or images were telling him to draw back both in the roof top scene and after the kiss in the sea. I wish we could have heard or seen what it was that Salvador experienced.

i believe he saw images that he'd seen from childhood that made him feel that sex was disgusting and dirty. if i'm not mistaken, when dali was younger, his dad brought home a book of pictures that disgusted dali so much that he did not like to touch or be touched at all, which is why he preferred to watch other people do it.

now as for this particular scene, i don't remember what images that showed him seeing, but i think it was probably just an attempt to show that dali had serious issues with sex.

yeah the part about him seeing disturbing images as a child because of his dad would fall in line with something I read on a thread about Dali's dad once walking into the house and announcing he had defecated in his pants and how that contributed to Dali's fascination with feces. There is a bit of that shown in the movie, where Dali talks to that old lady before the dinner party and mentions *beep* I think. It was meant to be funny but it was also uncomfortable too.

I guess it really can't be underestimated the traumas a child may experience that carry over into adult life.

It would be good to hear any other suggestions out there.

Think his mind just almost exploded to the point of black out when confronted with the realisation of actual sex, which he was not able to cope with for whatever reason, quite likely childhood experiences.

Strange, that none of you have yet realised that all Art comes from the bowels. It is sacrosanct and nonclotidian and is even the basis of an obscure yet transmogrified novel "Boots of the Virgin".

Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it.
