Not a hitman?

I saw the name and thought it may be about a hitman or something along those lines, but it's about a guy who beats addiction. So can't that be told in a movie? Why drag it out for a season?

The cast looks good, but I just can't imagine wanting to watch a guy spend a season trying to beat a drug addiction.
