Long time coming

I've seen a lot of TV in my 46 years and had abandoned the big networks for the past 5 years or so in favor of watching classic TV. In other words I've not seen anything new or worth watching in a long time. That is until The Cleaner. I happen to(accidentally)start watching a marathon a few weeks back and couldn't stop. After those 5 episodes, I was hooked. The most amazing part of it is I am not one to watch drama's as there's always been enough drama in the real world for me.

Benjamin Bratt is excellent in this and is surrounded by a great supporting cast. The story lines although not unique are good enough. These characters carry this show and IMO it is the best newer series on TV. What makes it even more edgy is knowing in the back of your mind that it's actually based on a real guy. Too bad it doesn't have the exposure of a network show.

Finally, seeing God get some credit on mainstream TV or anywhere else in a (quickly becoming)socialist country these days is awesome.

***SPOILERS BELOW***

I've watched this since the beginning and not 1 ep has aired that i haven't shed a tear or two, but this last ep had me bawling at the end (which is a good thing because it's cleansing - really didn't mean an intended pun).

This show really delves into the rawness of human emotions, it deals with addiction, in this case - drugs & alcohol. Addiction, to whatever, is about the loss of control, so a person with any addiction, or like in the son's case being around drinking his whole life that he searches for it (and doesn't drink).

A parent that won't stop drinking (& will lose an adult child because of it), cuz too old to change now, this same father that throws out his wife of many years because she wants to change - wow...really powerful stuff...
I don't mean to get all soul-searching here, but damn, this show hits it right on the head.

I agree that this is is a very long time coming...

cheers

SyFy - now playing-'Pirates Of The Scifi Caribbean', maybe now we can get a REAL science fiction channel 8-)

Not to get off subject here but when I read your name it really hit me. My best friend whom I had known since she visited my crib as a baby recently died due to mixing prescription drugs (ala Heath Ledger). I don't think we'll ever know what really happened. She has been a addict for many years.

Anyway, she was a very funny person and would often end sentences with, "Just sayin!"

She was 48, too young to die. I really miss her.
