Odd coupling? I see nothing odd about this coupling. What are they implying?

Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg will play Benjamin Bratt's ex-wife in a guest appearance on U.S. TV drama The Cleaner.

The odd coupling is part of a new plotline for the series' second season, which will see Goldberg return for a number of episodes, reports EW.com.

It's not the only TV project Goldberg has been involved in - the co-host of U.S. talk show The View recently created and starred in a science-fiction mini-series which streamed online in January.

i wouldn't say it was racist. because IT IS ODD. not cause of her race. but they just look so different. like style and AGE, lol.

Actually Sweiland, that is exactly what they are saying when they are saying odd coupling. It was you who thought it was racist, and only you.

I found it odd when I read that, and race had nothing to do with it. I just never figured Whoopi Goldberg for a show like The Cleaner, for one, and for another thing, I was surprised to see Benjamin Bratt's character had an ex-wife. I don't remember that being mentioned on the show. They do seem like a weird couple, and she seems like a weird choice for the show.

I personally just think you're an A-1 troll. You traverse IMDB with great speed attempting to piss off anyone and everyone you can. I feel sorry for anyone trying to seem self-righteous while looking like a complete moron at the same time.

Some people may go through life with blinders on but they're much better than people who read into every word and turn it into hate.

Well, she's 8 years older than Bratt, but looks much older, in my opinion. Personally, I think she can pull off a good role on the show, but wouldn't have pictured her as any kind of love interest of William. Perhaps she's proof that bad things DO happen when you stay high all the time! LMAO

i think they are considered "odd" because whoppie is looks waaaaaaay older than BB. that's just my opinion.

I see your point sweiland75, but I really don't think it was a racist remark. I thought her pairing with Ted Danson in RL was odd, in fact, any pairing involving her I would see as odd, and it has nothing to do with her race. I mean, what if it was Roseanne Barr instead of Whoopi? I think most everyone would find that pairing odd and it would have nothing to do with Roseanne's skin color.

I think I know what they mean. Twenty or so years ago when Whoopi was announced to be on TNG I thought it was strange. I thought that because I only saw her in comedies. (Did not see the Color Purple until sometime later) I did not think she would fit well on dramatic show. Which I was wrong. I think whoever wrote that had forgotten that Whoopi is a good dramatic actress and will do well on a dramatic show.
