I gave this show a chance and now I'm done

I really wanted to like it. I love the premise and I thought it would show some good stories. I wasn't expecting reality, but at least some entertainment and good writing. Unfortunately, I am done with watching the show. I gave it a chance; I really did, but it's just too dull and the writing is awful. Am I the only one who feels this way?

What episode did you watch?

I have watched all the episodes up until 2 weeks ago when I stopped watching.

I was underwhelmed by the first few episodes, and I ignored it until I was channel-surfing and came across it last night. I watched back-to-back episodes and enjoyed them. Tonight I will watch the season finale.

My favorite episodes, so far, were "Rag Dolls" (with the surfer chicks who were drug mules) and one I saw last night, about the aspiring actress who was a cocaine user. The ending on that one was rather powerful.

The show had to grow on me, though.

I think it has gotten better.

No, you're not the only one. I'll probably give it to the end of its first season. If the storytelling doesn't improve, then I'm sure I can find something better to do Tuesday nights.

Actually, Embody, I'm either going to be taking classes toward my degree or taking dog training classes. Either way, it's time better spent. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I feel the same, the writing is near preschool level and the facts about some addictions are way off base. The actors/actresses are stiff, contrived and most of all look uncomfortable in their roles. Also the preachiness does get a bit much, so this show is a no go for me, I am actually tired of these shows that focus on rehab anyways.

Sorry, but I have to ask, what show (s??) Exactly? I only know of this one, and Intervention.

I can actually watch this one without getting sick. Intervention usually reminds me too much of my old self, and while I'm glad my husband has an interest in it, since he didn't know me back then, there are some shows I have to walk away from in that series.

I love The Cleaner, though.

Benjamin Bratt is unbearable. His character just seethes with arrogance and self-righteousness - I wish everyone would just punch him in the face. If I'm going to watch someone like that on a weekly basis, they better be funny at least (see Edie Falco in Nurse Jackie).

I couldn't agree more. I deleted it from Season Pass tonight.

With many "actors," it's pretty obvious that they are many times merely playing slightly nuanced versions of their own core personalities and I think that this applies to Bratt. His character on Law and Order was just the same; arrogant, self-righteous with a stick up his butt.

I strongly suspect he is that way in real life and that may well be the reason that Julia Roberts dropped his smug a$$.

Moreover, it's not very well written; the story arcs are virtually the same with new bodies each week doing the same things in the same order.

I had hoped that the addition of Whoppi Goldberg would step things up a bit, but Bratt and his personality managed to even dull her effect.

Well, he's a Native American activist, he's even a Sun Dancer, that's pretty intense. I would imagine it's a pretty hardcore, preachy, focused in life, not easy to live with type unless you're a fellow Native or activist I imagine.

This season has not sucked me in nearly as well as last season did.
