Farewell to The Shield, welcome to The Beast!!!!

I'm so glad there's another real cop show on TV again and best of all, Patrick Swayze is a serious badass!!!! Only two episodes in and I can't wait to see more!!!

Please don't insult "The Shield" by comparing it to this.

Of course "The Beast" is different. The Shield is on a level that cannot be matched, would love to see The Beast bring something fresh or unusual to TV.

Clothing, $85. Earrings, $30. Latte, $4. Getting away with murder... Priceless..!!

I strongly agree. The pilot was okay, at any rate, it was enough to leave me interested enough to see what else they have in store. But no, this is not and never will be anywhere in the league of "The Shield".

reply

All right with the comparisons. The Shield is The Shield, 24 is 24 and The Beast is The Beast. Ok?

didn't watch The Shield because I didn't care for the star of the show.

so just let this show stand on its own merits. and let the other shows do the same.

The Beast is NOT just The Beast. Clearly the idea's been done before. So the comparisons will be there. And btw I completely agree that this show is not anywhere near as good as The Shield was. That was a great show. This is simply 45 minutes of predictable entertainment with a cast nowhere near as good.

You may change your mind after watching the 2/5/09 episode, it was great

I am a fan of "The Shield", and that was a terrific TV series. I have been tuning in to "The Beast" and I find it be a good TV show as well. I look forward to enjoying as many episodes as are produced and aired.

I always give a new show 2 to 3 episodes before I decide to drop it from my DVR queue. I liked it after the first episode, episode #2 was just OK but #3 was great, you should have hung in a bit longer to see if things got better. You can't judge after only one episode

I agree. I also did not care for The Shield, but I'm loving The Beast.

real cop show?

Real?

This is the most ridiculously over-the-top fake cop show in the world. The writers of this show threw plausibility right out the window with this one. The fact that it tries to present itself as a gritty real crime drama makes it that much more laughable.

Who can possibly believe that Ellis Dove actually made it through the FBI academy? He's an idiot.

Launching an RPG within city limits? REALLY? OH come on, you've got to be kidding me.

I could go on, but basically it boils down to this show having absolutely no realism or believability to it.

It's just sad really...

reply

I'll agree with you on the fact that Ellis Dove is an idiot. He keeps making really stupid mistakes (blame the writers for that one) but let's see what the next episodes are like. If he's still making stupid mistakes in the second season, then I think they need to hire new writers or Barker needs a new partner.

reply

yeah it's the writers fault if the ellis dove character continues to keep messing things up. that's what they want of this character. it may not last long because the character will get wiser with the spying he's asked to do and he would be looking at charles barker a lot differently.

stay with the show. looks like it will get more involved and more intriguing.

The third season was the weakest season of The Shield, however many disagree with me on that. If you didn't see seasons 5-7 of The Shield, you missed some of the best acting you've ever seen on television.
