Travis Fimmel - The Beast (2009) Discussion

I have always thought Travis did a great job in "Tarzan" and I have waited to see his work again. I am sad however that A&E missed the opportunity to have 2 great actors the caliber of Travis Fimmel and Patrick Swayze on the air every week instead of making the pilot a movie. I will love wathing these two actors work and definitely will watch the movie, I just wish the show had been picked for a weekly series. Truthfully, I am not impressed by "The Cleaner". ( the pilot that A&E has already greenlighted) I like Benjamin Bratt... but the premise of the show sounds depressing or more of a "Saved by a Angel" type of thing (ugh ! Haven't we already seen that in a few other series ??) "The Beast" would have been much more unique.

People again jumping the gun a bit here. I wish those who don't know facts would keep their gossip to themselves.
The Beast is still being considered as a new show.

"The A&E cable network announced that the pilot Swayze, 55, shot in December, titled The Beast – in it, he plays a seasoned yet unconventional FBI agent – remains under consideration as a possible series." "In a statement, A&E said The Beast is "in contention to become one of the new drama series on the network. However, at this time all of our thoughts are solely with Patrick and his family. We are all wishing for a speedy recovery to a truly gifted actor."

I heard they were making "The Beast" a movie instead of a show. sure hope its wrong. bailey leafs seems to say that "The Beast will still be a series and not a movie. hope he is right. you are right charmacke that Travis was great in "Tarzan" and the casting lady said he nailed the part in "The Beast".

so when will Hollywood realize they have a good actor in Travis and give him his chance to shine????????

OMG now the show is about to premier this week on a&e!!! good, good, good!!!
cannot wait to see travis on the screen again!!!!!

someone on another board called him "the kid" and mentioned he had the "prettiest blue eyes." glad you noticed that and that the kid will be a great asset to the show. the kid's name is travis fimmel.

glad you are back TRAVIS!!!!!!!!!!!! long live "The Beast" and best of luck to patrick!

Travis is restarting his career and i hope the people on these boards will not be to critical of him. he is talented and i just can't wait to see him on The Beast".

Even though I could have looked in the casting area of the Beast page, I was typing and could not remember his last name at the time.

I will remember it from now on. He is a good actor!

Fimmel looks like a twitchy, constipated hybrid of Matthew McConaughey and Leonardo DiCaprio, and is obviously selected to play the part for no other reason than give immature straight girl and gay boys something to drool over.

His acting is putrid. He's just smirking and twitching his way through his scenes. He acts like DiCaprio on some bad crack. Anybody that can't see that needs to put wipe his or her glasses clean.

Seconded, only I think he is trying his damndest to be like Jimmy Dean. Plus when he tries to act like a "bad boy" and threatening the dude who's always sitting in his apartment before he gets home, is extremely awkward, because he can't act, also, it's very annoying, because he can't act.

I'll bite just this one more time on the subject of Travis to some of you who thinks he cannot act.

he can act to me so matter what any one says i like him in The Beast and i think he is doing a great job acting in it. oh and he looks fabulous when he is acting too.

so you naysayers that don't like his acting make it easy on yourself and don't watch the show. its that simple really.

He did a good job. I don't think he's sunken into his character yet, but I enjoyed his performance. I can't believe he's Australian. Great accent - he also slips into a southern accent at one point which was pretty impressive.

And did I mention that he's HOT!!!! His eyes are smoldering.

I've got an appetite for destruction but I scrape the plate.

Guilgia you are right Travis had to do a lot of different things for the pilot.
he will be playing two parts- Patrick's sidekick and a spy. he'll be challenged constantly. love it.

can't wait to see more of it!!!!

I saw the first episode last night! I am so excited for this show! I've loved Patrick Swayze since Dirty Dancing, and Travis is most definitely a sight for sore eyes!

Travis is WAAAYYY hotter than Corey Haim. Travis is a good actor and smoking hot. He reminds me of Russell Crowe somehow, even though they look nothing alike. Maybe it's how he moves.
I also couldn't take my eyes off Patrick Swayze. He's older than I remember him (I must've been watching Dirty Dancing last week...) but just as intense. The two guy's relationship reminds me of Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt in Seven. Smart, older cop teaches hot, dumb, young cop.

Patrick was wearing a wedding ring in Tilt. We know he's married but is he suppose to be marry on the show?
