Remember when they used to play the themes of the BOS nominees?

Why did they stop performing the themes of the movies nominated for Best Original Score? I remember they used to bring people like Yo Yo Ma or a small orchestra and play some of each of the Best Original Score nominees' music. I really used to like that a lot. What happened? Are they affraid the host is goin to run out of time for more lame jokes?

Every year I hope they bring it back. I really enjoy it. It makes no sense that they allow each original song to be performed, yet never allow us to hear a sample of the nominated scores. Oh well, maybe next year.

It seems to me that they give out more awards on the show now, which means they have less time for things like music, dance, etc. Best Animated Film is a new category, and I don't recall awards for things like Best Sound Editing (or whatever it's called) 20 years ago. The "Memorium" feature hasn't always been around, I think, but it used to only feature actors (since the viewing audience didn't know who all the art directors, etc., were anyway) so it didn't take as much time.

I wish they brought that back.

I don't know, but it seemed like the Oscars were so cool years ago. Now they are kind of boring, they bring in just about anyone to present awards and the speeches are too short.
