Jon Stewart is a classy guy

I loved it when he brought Markéta Irglová back on stage to finish her acceptance speech. What was with the speech time limit this year? Nobody really got to say anything!

Movies are entertainment. Film is an artform.

I agree. I thought it was kinda rude when the music started just as she was about to say something. I thought it was really nice when Jon let her come out and say what she wanted to say (which was somewhat moving, even though I don't remember everything she said). It was the first time I saw a host do that.

Agreed! And it wasn't some rambling and pointless piece of mumbo-jumbo either. It was very worth hearing!

I really enjoyed that too. I felt so bad when they played her off. The orchestra seemed pretty pre-emptive last night.

They should have shown fewer montages to give people a chance to talk.

sure,

but he was totally classless when he mocked Hal Holbrook, Dennis Hopper, and John McCain.

And what was up with calling Jack Nicholson "rabbi"?

and the pregnant jokes were about one missing guffaw away from "uma-oprah"

yeah, those were pretty out of taste, but you could tell he was uncomfortable saying them. I'm not too sure he wanted to.

Also, while I really admired what he did for Ms. Irglova, it must be pointed out that after she walked away from the mic they stopped the music, but it was too late. Then they started playing it again. So, they sort of gave her a chance, but still messed up pretty bad.

If that's what you think of him, fine, but I think you missed the point of the thread. The OP was just commenting on his actions regarding Ms. Irglova, not his quality as a television host or comedian. Within the context, what he did was pretty classy, whether he has class or not.

I enjoyed him as host but that moment sealed the deal. It was an unbeleiveably classy thing to do
