Not good, not good at all! (Spoilers!)

I really did not think this film was as good as some people are making out! OK, the cast and the acting were passable but the story line, give me a break! It took far to long for the "suspense" to be built up and nothing is really explained properly, does the genie take over its hosts bodies, does it bring dead people back to life, does it make an apparently sane man go nutso or does it do all of these things or none of things? Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i don't want to offend anyone who likes the film but for me (and quite a few others i see) it was a complete waste of time and about as scary as a cup of tea.

Yep it could have been worse, but that;s hardly a compliment is it! I agree the plot was not a bad idea it just was not executed in a very productive way.

Are a lot of people praising this or something? I thought it was okay. Nothing to rave about.

Big Gay Al, it has recently come to our attention that you are gay.

Explaining everything doesn't work well for a horror movie - there must always be a bit of mystery left after the final frame.

That said, I agree that Red Sands is not particularly good. The actors, especially Shane West, handle the material quite well, but the budget shows. People are always talking about how movies from 25 years ago look bad now, and how movies of today will look bad in 25 years. Well, here's a new movie that looks bad now! The CGI is painfully obvious as such.

The story is a little thin, but for horror movies, tight editing, a strong soundtrack, and skilled key actors are often worth more than an elaborate storyline. Unfortunately, Red Sands looks cheaply and inexpertly made. Hopefully, Shane West will revisit the genre in a better production.
