More like WOKER instead of Walker

Had to make that joke because this show definitely appeals more to the SJW crowd than the original show.

reply

I was affraid of that since a CW show.I was slightly interested but not sure if i'll bother with it now.

reply

It wasn’t as “woke” as I expected it could have been but still definitely not the over-the-top fun escapism of the original Walker series. Too focused on family drama and trying to weaken Walker as a character (ie making him have a drinking problem, not being there for his kids, look goofy/dumb compared to his female partner).

reply

That just makes him seem more like a human being, which is better than him being some cheesy superman protagonist.

I dont know. Every show is different. If you watch Walker Texas Ranger you basically want that kind of "superhero witout powers" badass character, because that's what you expect from that kind of show. If you want a emo crybaby character you watch other kind of shows, and that's fine too! There are different kind of characters for different kinds of shows.

reply

your traditional
"superhero witout powers badass character" always has other facets so as not to be a completey two dimensional cardboard cutout - the good ones anyway

Martin Riggs, first example to come to mind
usually loners , often drinking problem - thats what comes with super badass ness
Longmire - similar country lawman to this , has his own issues.

I think that when you do a remake of Walker Texas Ranger it would be great to dont do it too differently. But it probably shouldnt have been done at all.

reply

So you threw a tantrum before you got to see it? Typical.

reply

I hope this Walker tries to deescalate situations instead of solving everything with a roundhouse kick to the face.

reply

so do i , but ..
Just imagine the shitstorm from the anti-woke brigade..
"They pussified him!!"

reply

Depends on the situation and how it's handled. Nobody had issues with Raylen Givens on Justified, and he shot at least 3 people each episode. Though they usually got fair warning that the bullet was coming.

reply

Reality is you don't try to deescalate a problem with a criminal unless you want to get shot. The roundouse kick was letting the bad guys off easy in the original show, real life would have simply had the bad buy shot. Maybe that's part of the problem with people today getting shot by police, they watch too many pussy shows where the police never just shot the bad guy so the idiots of today have been brainwashed into thinking the police won't just shoot their sorry ass in a heartbeat.
