12 lbs.lost in 90 minutes?
Is that even possible? Perhaps I didn't understand that correctly.
shareMost of it was probably water weight. The rest is burning 3500 calories per pound.
🔥 walk with me
I thought that part was a bit difficult to swallow also, but not improbable. The mayo clinic says that at 200lbs, you can lose just over 1000calories an hour, so he could have burned 1750. (Rounding up) in 90 mins or .5 lbs. That still leaves 11.5lbs. If thats water weight only (assuming he didnt throw up anymore) than thats just under 1.5gallons of water. Ive seen friends and myself lose a numerous pounds after a intense workout but nothing near 12lbs. So, ill go with its very probable but difficult.
shareYou'll note he measured in the nude the 2nd time. The official measurement could have been given 2-3lbs leniency and on top of that, yes water weight was the key.
At 200lbs, you can indeed lose 5% in water in a short amount of time given extreme circumstances. Mark could have easily been 65% water weight when he measured, he probably DID throw up more after that we weren't shown and then just sweat non-stop for 90 minutes.
A lot of variables to be sure.

This happens with jockeys, too.
I once saw a documentary about jockeys. They do anything and everything to lose weight QUICKLY. Maybe not 12 pounds in 90 minutes (jockeys are short and small, so they don't weigh much). I'd liken it to a jockey losing 5 pounds within a couple of hours. They achieve that with saunas turned up to the max, exercising intensely with layers of clothing on, and throwing up.
It was a great documentary.
Ay me, sad hours seem long

It's very likely it would've made him sick. But he would not have lost muscle mass, that's impossible in 90 minutes if you don't cut it off.

LOL! That was my question too. Seemed crazy.
shareI've read articles about tennis pros that say they can lose like 7-8 pounds during a match. So I think it's possible.
