Netflix documentary is better

I'm sure it's being said lots but just watch the Netflix film, the true story is so much better/weirder than the movie.

This film is very very loosely based on a few truths. Shame they didn't just stick to the facts

Do they even mention David's brother Mark in the documentary?

And judging by the documentary, that was a horrible interpretation of John du Pont done by Steve Carell.

Short Cut, Draw Blood

I don't get it? Why make a completely different story? It was pretty creepy as it happened?

reply

Agree that the doc is more interesting and emotional than the movie.Mark did not seem to be a factor in the doc.

Miller and the writers from the beginning didn't want to do a straight bio pic. They weren't trying to. He did the same approach to Moneyball and Capote, think because it became easier to make things more cinematic and linear. The footage of du Pont was so chilling. I think both of the films are completely brilliant in their own unique right.

Sometimes people forget that movies like this are based on true stories and not complete rehashes of them.

I enjoyed both plenty. The movie was great, the documentary was great, I was a fan of both.

I really like the 30 for 30 documentary.
