Wow ... why?
I thought the film was slowly-paced, and nothing much really happened in it, but, I surely didn't hate it! Glad I saw the movie, but would have liked more dialogue.
It really was awful!
Most overrated film of the last year, only bearable for lovers of late-night train track meditations...
Bad soundtrack, serious editing flaws and a horrible performance by Ingrid Caven as the "tante allemande" - all this would have made critics furious if it was found in a "mainstream" movie. But of course european art house cinema, heavily supported by several french and german funding agencies, can easily go away with it.

I don't understand why a filmmaker would choose to implement this extremely vague storytelling. I realise it creates a very particular feeling and atmosphere, but as the viewer I feel so frustrated spending time watching and learning almost nothing about these characters--or even the plot itself!
It seemed like such an intriguing story but then we're left with hardly anything to go off of. It just feels like lazy writing in the end.

Why awful? Can you explain that point of view? I thought it was beautiful. Slow-moving yes, but all the better to let the characters develop and let us into their lives. I thought the acting was wonderful and genuine, and the scenes realistic. If you watch most Hollywood movies and like them, then you will hate this movie...
