CONFIRMED by Reddit post: This is the November 7, 2022 $5 Regal Mystery Movie

The October $5 Regal Mystery Movie was The Last Beer Run, also an Apple TV+ movie about to go streaming later that week. The Last Beer Run had a low Metascore of 38. The Regal Mystery listed run time is never true, only the rating, which is PG-13. (By contrast, when AMC theatres had $5 mystery movies over the last two years, the announced run times were honest. That made it easier to guess the titles.)

Spirited (2022) is a musical A Christmas Carol comedy in which a much-younger Scrooge character (Ryan Reynolds) forces the ghost (Will Ferrell) to go through his own three phases of life.

The producers are the same guys who made Daddy's Home (2015) and Daddy's Home 2 (2017). I saw the second one and it was truly awful.

It appears it is. Someone who works at a Regal theater claims the title of the print for tonights movie is "Chili" which was also the working title for this while it was in production. I'll give this one a shot since it's only $5, but it doesn't sound too promising and I'm expecting there to be a lot of walkouts tonight once it's revealed it's a musical.

$5 Regal Mystery Movie Confirmed by a Reddit post at about 7:40 PM ET:

"It was Spirited. I walked out within 10 mins….can’t do musicals it was bad"

I did not go. Since Will Ferrell is a producer, I expect there was no one to stop him from doing the stupid man-child persona, or anything else that made some of his recent releases bomb.

What is a Regal Mystery Movie?

reply

The first Monday of the month, the Regal theater chain has been having a Mystery Movie for $5 plus state/local tax. It is an upcoming movie, expected to be released within about a week. The first two have been Apple+ movies. They actually drew very well, as patrons foolishly hoped it would be a new film expected to do well at the box office. That's not going to happen.

Cineplex has had a similar $5 Mystery movie, but I'm not sure if it is an upcoming or older movie.

When AMC theaters had a $5 mystery film in 2021, it was an older film, and not necessarily a higher rated one. Some were horror films. Recently in 2022, AMC has simply brought back older films or even films released a few months ago, for $5 plus tax. No more guessing and walking out if you don't like the choice. Not all of the multiplexes do this, usually the larger ones.

With 18,000 to 20,000 Regal Rewards points in their free club, you can get a free ticket. The other two chains only give discounts for overpriced concessions, which typically have an 80% markup. (It's how theaters actually can make money.) Regal is currently in bankruptcy but still operating.
