Why are there no gay characters in this??

just wondering??

reply

Because none of the characters told the author they were gay. I'm sure there is plenty of fanfic where 'those' authors decided to 'help' a character/s come out of the closet.

I felt movie Jacob and Edward would've made a better couple than either with Bella.

Because there are no gay characters in this.

There's something wrong with Esther.

reply

Probably because it isn't the focus of the movie. Little is said about the other characters. If there was a gay character, it might take the focus off the main characters since it's such a minor sexual orientation.

A better question is: why does there have to be gay characters in everything?

reply

Why not just ask: why does there have to be black characters in everything?

See how that sounds?

I personally feel that is entirely different. Dark skin is a physical trait that can not and should not be ignored. Homosexuality is not something that needs to be touched on and be made aware of in every single story line ever, just because it exists in real life... This story is based on a heterosexual romance, why does a token homosexual have to be thrown in just for the sake of keeping it 'PC'. I'm sure there are homosexuals in the Twilight world, they just aren't apparent in the main characters and that's fine.

So homosexuals should just be ignore, right?

Again, that's the same argument people used to make about African Americans. That's where the phrase "token black guy" came from.

You are mixing apples and oranges. You asked why there is no gay character, not why there is no gay actor. Black actors are given jobs in films where characters don't have to be white, in order to prevent job discrimination. Not having a gay character in a film does not preclude a gay actor from playing any charater of their gender in that film. And though I'm very opposed to job discrimination towards anyone, I do draw the line at altering artistic endeavors to include fictional characters that please any particular groups.

Just saying...Eric Yorkie may not have been out yet, but he was ringing at least a 9.5/10 on my gaydar.

Probably because Meyer is a Mormon and they think it's a "sin" .
