I still don't understand the IMDb rating

The whole thing was just "meh", and nowhere near an 8.7 show.

I mean, I only started watching the show because of the sky-high rating, but boy was it ever misleading.

Every episode I watch makes me hate the show a little more (I'm at episode 7 now). It's exactly the same vibes I got from Schitt's Creek which I dumped ¾ way through Season 2.

Before anyone flames me, you're welcome to enjoy the show. God knows it has a devoted following. It's just not for me.

reply

i tried watching it, seems lame,

reminds me of the office, it has a 8.9, but its really not that great and has no rewatch value, and its not even in syndication like Seinfeld.

reply

The Office is a lot of peoples' favorite show ever. Also I don't know where you are but it's definitely in syndication. A show like Seinfeld was great but it was all over TV for years because there wasn't a million other things to watch like there is now. When I was a kid I'd watch the same Simpsons episodes over and over on syndication. I loved it but if you gave me Netflix at that age I wouldn't have had to do that.

reply

IMDb rating for shows are often inflated because people vote after only the first episode.

reply

There's some charm, then it's just too much. There's some pulling of the heart-strings, but then it turns depressing. There's the adorable joy of Dani's "Football is life", then the despair of "Football is death". I watched Apple tv with the free trial. I will be canceling.

reply

This show just works for me. The humor makes me laugh. Then the heartfelt moments get me too. I think the writing and Jason Sudeikis' performance are spot on.

This show is for the stupid which have become the majority.

reply

“Which [sic] have become the majority”!?

They have ALWAYS BEEN the majority!!

reply

You probably don’t know British culture or how Americans would react to it.

It’s a great show on that alone.

reply

As German, I've laughed my ass off at Monty Python, Faulty Towers, Little Britain, The Office (orig.) and other brilliant British comedies. In comparison, Ted Lasso is just pure crap - I did not even laugh once. Culture my ass.

reply

Apple's “Ted Lasso” broke records by becoming the most nominated freshman comedy series in Emmy history.

Ted Lasso won seven of the 20 Emmys it was up for in 2021, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

Pure crap huh?

reply

Since when do nominations and Emmys replace lack of humour?

Seriously, can you name at least one scene where you burst out laughing?

reply

Only in the first series, not seen the second yet.

reply

Which scene(s)?

reply

in Freddy Got Fingered when Tom Green is singing the sausage song

reply

I wanna’ eat chicken burgers!

reply

What? We are talking about Ted Lasso and not about a 20 year old movie.

reply

i haven't seen this Jason Sodakiss Tv show but i can tell you this Freddy Got Fingered movie had me rolling off the sofa at certain points, even after initially seeing it in the cinema when first released

reply

Too right. I’m looking for Dave Davison!

Tar is an obvious troll....

reply

Not quite, I am a Russian bot.

reply

That's quite an assumption.

reply

True then?

reply

No, you couldn't be further off.

reply

the IMDB algorithm is biased towards the program due to Jason's CGI moustache
