Definitely better than "The Beach" (Di Caprio)

I couldn't help noticing the similarities between these two movies. But whereas we got bored with "The Beach", the thriller with John Caviezel kept us interested.

Attention SPOILERS!!!

Some questions were never really answered (or maybe we missed the clues?).
What was it that was causing the trouble between Caviezel and his movie wife?
And why did the friends with whom they planned to meet never show up?
Was the manatee still alive or did somebody just pull it closer and closer to Caviezel's camp site?

It's a matter of taste. I loved the Beach with Dicap… and to be very honest with you I do not see one single similarity apart a few shots of the beach and even those weren't remotely similar.
