Evolution vs. GT

Since Evolution and GT are the worst things to ever happen to Dragonball, which one was worse in your opinion and why?

reply

Even GT at least had Akira Toriyama's participation. The filmmakers reportedly cut him out of this one.

I thought GT was awesome

To say GT is something that is anywhere near as bad as Evolution is nothing but scraping the bottle of the barrel for a topic.

And GT was not bad. It just had a very bad set of early episodes (roughly the first 16). In fact, pretty much anything starting from Baby onwards I prefer over the Buu saga which is flat out the worst saga in all of Dragon Ball.

Agreed, only bad thing about GT were those first episodes, tried to have the spirit of the original dragon ball but failed. Everything after was cool. Also agreed that the Buu saga may be the worst..lol

defending GT and attacking Buu saga

Buu saga wasn't as great but it was better than the whole GT series for sure. I enjoy the Baby episodes and the battle with the one Star Dragon but still, there was something about GT that didn't work, and the fights weren't exciting.

Enough is enough! I have had it with these monkey fighting snakes on this Monday thru Friday plane!

Absolutely not. From Baby on, GT is superior to the Buu saga in every conceivable way. That isn't to say that GT is perfect it's just that GT from Baby on is pretty decent and Buu is a horrendous Saga. Horrible villain, horrible story, horrible ending, etc...

GT has a lot better ideas for villains and storylines than anything in Buu. They could've been executed better in GT but how it's there is still far better than Buu.

Seems more like you had preconceived negative notions going into GT.

GT is an example of continuing a story when you have run out of good ideas, but still trying to conserve the original spirit and energy. I thought GT was still enjoyable and I also think the quality was already going down at the end of DBZ.

Dragon Ball Evolution is an example of allowing a completely different group of people who don't understand the essence of the original story retell it. Very little was left intact.

Even if GT was as bad as Evolution, it'd still deserve more credit for staying true to the Dragon Ball heart.

reply

GT lasted longer than Evolution so I'd have to go with that, least you can get through Evolution in 73 painful minutes whereas GT is 1,600 minutes of awfulness.

Even though I enjoy EVOLUTION, I do understand the crap it gets, but I never really understood why so many fans despised GT. I thought it was an enjoyable series. The Baby Saga probably being the best, and I like the inclusion of Goku's granddaughter. It's been a while since I watched it, but I liked both.

There was nothing wrong with the inclusion of Pan. It was her personality that was awful. I think the show would have been better served if she never got on the ship and accompanied Goku and Trunks and was more of a side character. There wasn't enough there to make her a major character. I don't really care for GT but I don't hate it like I do Evolution.

reply

Evolution is far worse and it's not even close IMO.

GT is not THIS BAD!
