yeah and i agree w/that reviewer too. i wanted at least another half hour with them

I agree
A very well paced and overall interesting storyline...The characters were very well played. However, I have to say that the movie somewhat resembles that of the Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy movie "Before sunset", another good movie by richard linklater. where the two main characters walk along the streets of paris discussing about 'things'.

In addition, Jô Odagiri is a fantastic actor, but his expressions throughout the film (especially his hairstyle) reminded me of the charactor Johnny Depp potrayed in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorshands. Seriously, tell me if u felt the same way.

Still, it makes me smile that his character is this "confused" like person.

For some reason this movie kinda reminded me of Kikujiro (a film about a man who accompanies a boy on a trip to visit his mother). Also, the way that Jô Odagiri was dressed and the way that his hair was styled really reminded me of Bob Dylan on the cover of "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan." So much so that I was wondering if it was intentional.

I loved the playful quirkiness of this film. From the first shot of the aqua fresh toothpaste tube to the walking backwards in the final scene. It reminded me of Kikujiru also! Kikujuru is one of my all time favorite films with the great Beat Takeshi.

I watched this movie at Fantasia tonight and I just loved it. What a charming and heartwarming movie. And funny.

I hope it is gonna come out on DVD here - I want to watch it again!

Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

Every year I check out many movies at Fantasia (they screen lots of asian films) and I noticed there are a lot of movies with Tomokazu Miura. I think he is somewhat underrated but he's a great actor and I have a new appreciation for his work.

I concur. It's somewhat disappointing to see it have an IMDb user rating below 7, even if there are less than 100 votes.

Fortunately the rating's getting a little better. I was resistant to watching it because of the IMDB plot summary which mentions a sorry sad-sack with no friends & no family. Was expecting this movie to be another depressing flick wallowing in the misery of hikokomori. It's not.

Great film indeed. Definitely a TOP 10 movie from 2008. Such a shame it's so overlooked. Deserves a rating of 8/10.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

I didn't get the point of having those 3 co-workers of the dead wife in there, they kind of annoyed me. Other than that I thought the film was decent, I really liked the flash back scenes, I wish there were more glimpses of both of their histories. Sometimes the film rested too long on the most pointless moments, not enough character development or meat to get into.
