Irritating

It must be just me, based on the other threads and comments. But the voices are done in that "we must make the characters sound stupid to appeal to children" way. And the sound effects are too over the top. I can't put my finger on it, but they're too squeaky or something. Like all the music is played using the minor scale, its just irritating for me to watch. Unfortunatley, my children love it. I might have to phase it out slowly like I did with Max & Ruby (Ruby was passing on a lot of bad habits - very bossy).

Dude, seriously, it's a little kids show teaching spelling. If it wasn't annoying on some level to adults, it wouldn't be done right. It annoys me on some levels, but I appreciate the fact that how they made it and the concept are brilliant and my little girl is really involved when watching it and she really likes it. It's a great show, especially since there's nothing controversial in it unlike Sesame Street the past 15 years which has taken to subtly teaching some issues that is not their place to teach kids. The voices are how they are for contrast and no different than any other cartoon voices the past 60 years. Just part of what kids like, audio and visual.

I agree its a good concept and my children do like it. In comparison to other children's shows on today, this one just grates at my nerves. BTW, I was successful phasing it out. We read books now.

Why don't you post that on the SS(lol) board? I'd like to see that comment get by!

I am in my 40s and watched it for a few years, probably since its inception. My Dad, in his late 60s and half paralyzed from a stroke, also loved it and so did his caregiver Harold, who was a bit older than he. The two of them would watch it while Mom and I went to the grocery.

I love the graphics (as a graphic artist), the concept, the story lines are clean and well-themed. Kudos to whomever had a hand in this show. I wish I could still find it on.
